India is an amalgamation of many cultures. India has been invaded time and again, over the past few thousand years. In places you will see relics of Mughal culture; their rich and lavish lifestyle is visible in the numerous forts and palaces of India, many converted to museums and hotels today. The British culture is heavily present across the East West band and sea trade route of India, from Shimla, and Mumbai (British Bombay), Kolkata (British Calcutta) and Darjeeling. Pondicherry, Div and Goa along the western coast were Portuguese colonies until a few decades ago, and still look like small towns out of a European storybook. Gods & Religions in IndiaIndia has 40,000 gods. A few hundred religions and their sects. India (or Bharat; as it was previously known) is where some major religions of the world; namely Buddhism & Hinduism were born, while others were importantly shaped.
It’s partially the largeness of India and partially its vastly different terrain, and the amalgamation of a hundred Indian cultures, tens of thousands of years of traditions, and influences of it foreign invaders that makes India unique and diverse beyond explanation.
